About

Thank you for visiting "A Hungry Spoon!"
My name is Kylie and I am a 27 year old, dessert-loving, healthy-eating vegetarian living in Morgantown, WV with my husband (Adam) and our dog (Dora).  "A Hungry Spoon" was designed as a means to share my love for food, favorite recipes, and inspiration for clean eating and an active lifestyle.

The Road to Clean Eating...

During my undergraduate years at Wittenberg University I became a vegetarian--a decision that was significantly influenced by my growing understanding of the factory farm industry, as well as the health benefits of a plant-based diet.  My journey into vegetarianism began simply by removing meat, but maintaining the staple favorites in my college diet (i.e., Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, peanut butter sandwiches, and pizza, sans pepperoni of course).

When Adam and I got married in November 2007, we soon discovered a new and mutual interest in  cookbook-hunting and exploring healthy recipes Alas--a foodie was born!  Since then, I have developed a keen passion for healthy cooking and the beauty of using whole foods as a basis for most every recipe. Cooking and baking from scratch is not just a hobby in our house, but is lifestyle that brings us energy, creativity, and good health.

Despite my love for clean eating, it's important to note that sweet indulgences are among my top favorite foods as well.  I'm always experimenting with baking at home, and I rarely miss our weekly visit to Coldstone Creamery...unless Dairy Queen is calling my name :)

When I'm Not in the Kitchen...
My days are spent working with rural teens as a social worker at a non-profit organization.  Evenings are spent being my nerd-like self, with activities including, but not limited to, reading, dog-walking, recipe-hunting, and simply relaxing with family and  friends.

Photographs...
Every picture you see in "A Hungry Spoon" is taken by me.  I have no training in photography whatsoever (given the amateur quality, I'm sure you can tell!), but my trusty Sony Cyber-Shot camera serves me well.

Recipe Queries & Comments
My blog is an open forum for feedback and conversation.  Please post your thoughts, questions, and comments in the "Comments" section after each post and I will happily respond.  And, if you try a recipe, I would love to hear how it worked for you!
